Intercâmbio de idiomas: contribuições para a formação profissional de professores da área de letras

Abstract

A prática de intercâmbio de idiomas tem sido crescente no mundo desde o fim da Segunda Guerra Mundial. Esta pesquisa propõe compreender de que maneiras a experiência de intercâmbio de idiomas contribuí para a prática pedagógica de professores de língua inglesa. Dentre os objetivos, destaca-se contextualizar do ensino de língua inglesa e a cultura do intercâmbio no Brasil, refletir sobre os impactos que a experiência de intercâmbio possui nos sujeitos intercambistas e analisar as diferentes maneiras que esta experiência influencia na prática pedagógica dos docentes. A problematização teórica se pauta em autores como Paulo Freire (1996), Geraldi (2015), Vilson J. Leffa e Valesca B. Irala (2014) e Vera Lúcia Menezes de Oliveira e Paiva (2009). A pesquisa está composta por dados qualitativos, resultantes de respostas obtidas a partir da aplicação de questionário eletrônico à sete participantes. As análises realizadas permitem afirmar que a prática de intercâmbio influencia não somente na prática pedagógica dos docentes participantes, mas também nas demais áreas da vida, ressaltando a importância das vivências interculturais.

The practice of language exchange has been growing worldwide since the end of World War II. This research aims to understand how the experience of language exchange contributes to the pedagogical practice of English language teachers. Among the objectives, we highlight the contextualization of English language teaching and the culture of exchange language programs in Brazil, reflection on the impacts that the exchange experience has on exchange students and analysis of the different ways in which this experience influences the pedagogical practice of teachers. The theoretical problematization is based on authors such as Paulo Freire (1996), Geraldi (2015), Vilson J. Leffa and Valesca B. Irala (2014) and Vera Lúcia Menezes de Oliveira e Paiva (2009). The research is composed of qualitative data, resulting from responses obtained from the application of electronic questionnaires to seven participants. The analyses carried out allow us to state that the practice of exchange influences not only the pedagogical practice of the participating teachers, but also other areas of life, highlighting the importance of intercultural experiences.
